SOUND RECORDIST

Tamara Stubbs

Member of the Institute of Professional Sound

I have been professionally recording sound for over 8 years. I have worked all around the world in a variety of exciting environments.

I own all the usual kit for working out of the bag and a 10 channel hard drive so I can work either linked to the camera with cables or wirelessly recording on a separate hard drive providing a Flash card or DVD with the rushes synced with time code to camera.

Janie Willsmore who runs ‘The Diary Agency’ invited me to join 3 years ago. Janie and Lily take care of my diary. Please call them to find out my availability for work.

The Diary Agency 020 7386 0310 or 07769 706635.

Our profession is going through some exciting changes at the moment with the flexibility restored of recording as a separate unit to the camera. This allows the recordist more freedom for doing wild tracks and removing the limit of only having 2 tracks. This is opening doors for recording more in stereo and surround sound plus the ability to give the editor isolated tracks as well as a mix. We also get our freedom back and no longer have to squeeze into the limited space around the camera with the camera operator and director.

Whilst documentaries and factual are my passion I have also enjoyed working on a number of other genres such as; feature films, short films, commercials, corporates, comedy, light entertainment and news.

Please don’t ask about un/low paid jobs as I do not undertake this type of work, unless you are calling from a genuine charity.

My rates are industry standard, please call to discuss your requirements.

As the daughter of an army officer I have travelled all my life. Travel is a passion and I feel at home on the road, in a hotel or camping under the stars. I am interested in meeting people and exploring different cultures and environments. I am a big fan of being in the mountains, I love the mountain people and the beauty the mountains hold. I am a keen walker and trekker, skier and snow boarder and horse rider. My husband has introduced me to sailing, he races yachts in his spare time and I have been invited to race a couple of times, but am not a natural sailor, though luckily we have always done very well as I am naturally competitive. I like to give everything a go!
